Membership Early Bird Special!
January 19, 2009 9:00am

Dear Fellow Republican,

First, let me thank you for your membership in the Fulton County Republican. Last year, thanks to your support, we increased membership, made significant upgrades to our headquarters, and improved our coordination with other metro Republican and tea party organizations. This wouldn’t have been possible were it not for your support.

In 2008, Democrats won on a message of hope and change. We can now see that message was nothing more than fancy rhetoric. If you’ve seen the news lately, you know that survey after survey shows that the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to the liberal agenda coach Obama and team Pelosi are trying to ram through congress—socialized medicine, Cap and Trade, bailouts. We continue to be ignored.

Ronald Reagan said, “If you can’t show them the light, make them feel the heat.”

Well, that’s exactly what we’re doing. There is a movement taking place right now to take back our country and at the tip of the sword is our conservative message. Everyday working Americans are waking up and realizing that liberals have taken control of the wheel and are off course with the mainstream.

We at FCRP are doing our part to make sure we capture the passion, enthusiasm and patriotism similar to what led the way for the 1994 revolution to bring those voters back into the party.

In 2010, we’re off to another great start – first with our monthly breakfast meetings and upcoming 2nd Amendment and Faith & Values coalition building events. I’m privileged to continue as the Chairman and to work with a tremendous group of experienced officers and volunteers.

We still have much work to do, and we need your continued support. If you want to be part of the solution and a guiding force in the future of the Fulton County Republican Party, please consider taking advantage of the early bird special by renewing your membership before February 28.

$150 Circle R (Save $30)
$400 Chairman's Council (Save $100)

Please fill out your membership application online, including your preferred telephone number and email address, so we can contact you regarding upcoming events. To take advantage of the early bird special, follow these simple instructions:

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to working with you throughout the year.

Scott Brown for US Senate Update & Election Night Victory Party
January 18, 2009 6:00pm

Dear Friends,

The Fulton County Republican Party attracted volunteers from Fulton, Gwinnett, and Cobb County this past week for phone banks to help State Senator Scott Brown win the U.S. Senate seat that was held for decades by Ted Kennedy.

In five days, volunteers placed over 7,000 calls using the new Fulton GOP G.O.T.V. (Get Out The Vote) phone system. And, now 60 volunteers are trained to operate it.

By electing Scott Brown, the people of Massachusetts are fundamentally changing not only the politics as usual environment that existed in the state for decades, but the short-lived filibuster-proof Democratic majority in Washington. The outpouring of support from our volunteers is a testament of the historic nature of this special election, and the American people’s belief that Scott Brown’s vote is the only way to stop the health care reform legislation from passing.

The Fulton GOP will host an Election Night Victory Party on Tuesday, January 19 starting at 7:00 p.m. The party headquarters is located at 5920 Roswell Rd Suite B-115 Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Polls in Massachusetts close at 8:00 p.m. Please join us to watch the results come in on two 50” screen TVs.

Thanks to everyone who came out to make phone calls, or made them from home, and sent in donations.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the headquarters tomorrow night!

Semper Fidelis,
Shawn Hanley
Chairman, Fulton GOP

A Call to Action from Chairman Shawn Hanley
January 10, 2009 4:45pm

UPDATE 5:00 p.m. (1/18): Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to make phone calls. We will not be making calls on Tuesday. Please join us for the Election Night Victory Party @ 7:00 p.m., Fulton GOP Headquarters.

Fulton County GOP Phone Banks for Scott Brown, candidate for U.S. Senate (Special Election - January 19)

Dear Fulton County GOP,

2010 is a very important year for Republicans and the U.S. Congress. Not only do we have an opportunity to gain back seats in the House, Candidate for U.S. Senate Scott Brown has given us the chance to end the filibuster-proof Senate. Brown is the 41st vote against health care reform.

Brown has closed in on his liberal opponent, closing the gap that was once around thirty to single digits. The most recent poll has him up by one point. By helping a fellow conservative in Massachusetts with the January 19th special election, we are going to jump start our organization's G.O.T.V. volunteer training for the coming elections. Starting Monday, January 11 we will be running daily phone banks for Brown using our new easy to use and efficient phone system. The Victory Solutions Victory VOIP is a state of the art election-based G.O.T.V resource that was instrumental in the Republican governors’ victories in New Jersey and Virginia.

Together, we can make an impact. I look forward to seeing you throughout the week at the Fulton County GOP Headquarters as we work to elect Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate and take back our country.

Editorial: ADL Report Smears Tea Party Conservatives
Posted December 3, 2009 9:00AM

The Anti-Defamation League's paper on right-wing "rage" succumbs to the paranoia and fear-mongering it purports to decry.

By Orit Sklar

The report recently published by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) titled Rage Grows in America: Anti-Government Conspiracies unwittingly describes itself, rather than the object of its contempt, in its own opening paragraph: “fueled by paranoia and conspiracy theories.”

While it would be easy to dismiss the ADL report as the commonplace liberal propaganda it has been producing for decades, in the age of Obama it is unwise to ignore what at any other time is properly ignored. Its implications are of much greater consequence today to every American who is taking a stand against the “remaking” of America.

FCRP In the News - The Marietta Daily Journal: Town Hall meeting to address veterans’ questions on health care
December 1, 2009 7:00am

Many veterans have been watching the national healthcare reform debate closely, concerned that all of the hard-earned gains of the past few years, such as Tricare for Life, would be lost or greatly damaged under a new, Democrat administration and Pelosi-controlled Congress. As a military dependent, I share those concerns.

Next Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., there will be a local town hall meeting to address veteran’s questions on health care.

Hosted by the Metro Veterans Coalition of the Fulton County Republican Party, the town hall will feature former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi as well as Senator Johnny Isakson, a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. Also attending will be former Hanoi Hilton POW Col. Lee Ellis, USAF, retired, an Atlanta-based leadership consultant and author of the book "Leading Talents, Leading Teams."

The program will be followed by a movie screening of the HBO film, "Taking Chance: When one falls, another brings him home.

A Message of Thanks From Shawn Hanley
Posted November 25, 2009 7:00PM

Many of us spend every day individually expressing appreciation for our country and military. But on Thanksgiving Day, we have a truly unique opportunity to gather among family and friends to reflect on American exceptionalism, pray for the troops, and give thanks for the bountiful blessings in our lives.

It was President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation signed on October 3, 1789 that set aside Thursday, November 26 as a day “to be devoted…to the service of that great and glorious Being.” The proclamation outlines various reasons for giving thanks: the new nation was just formed under the U.S. Constitution and “to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion.”

In addition to Washington’s proclamation, The Desolate Wilderness, taken from Nathaniel Morton's New England's Memorial and And the Fair Land written by Vermont Royster are very valuable reading during the holiday.

Royster writes in 1949: “...We can remind ourselves that for all our social discord we yet remain the longest enduring society of free men governing themselves without benefit of kings or dictators. Being so, we are the marvel and the mystery of the world, for that enduring liberty is no less a blessing than the abundance of the earth...”

On this Thanksgiving Day, I also want to express my deepest thanks and appreciation for your support of the Fulton County Republican Party.

Wishing you and your family a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Semper Fidelis,
Shawn Hanley

Veterans Issues Take Center Stage at Town Hall
Fulton County GOP Prioritizes Support for Troops & Veterans

ATLANTA, Georgia – On Saturday, December 5 the Metro Veterans Coalition of the Fulton County Republican Party will host a Veterans Town Hall: The State of Veterans Health Care & Benefits featuring former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, who sits on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, and Lee Ellis, a Medal of Honor recipient from Georgia, at the Lefont Theater 5920 Roswell Rd Sandy Springs, GA from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Following the speakers will be a movie screening of the HBO film based on a true story, ‘Taking Chance: When one falls, another brings him home.’

“The men and women who serve in the U.S. military deserve our unwavering support when they are in uniform and, unquestionably, when they return home,” said Shawn Hanley, Chairman of the Fulton County Republican Party and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. “Obama’s dithering on implementing General McChrystal’s plan in Afghanistan is a display of the Democratic Party’s inability to suppress its Left wing base which seeks the dismantling of the military.”

A Letter From the Chairman: Thank You and Happy July 4th
Posted July 1, 2009 11:00AM

Dear Friends:

On Saturday, June 27, more than 300 Republicans gathered for the 14th Annual Fulton County Republican Party BBQ. The venue was filled with energetic campaigns and enthusiastic grassroots activists, all enjoying the company of friends, great BBQ, and taking the time to meet and listen to a wide array of elected officials and candidates.

The event's tremendous success was a direct result of the incredible dedication and hard work by a fantastic team of volunteers, including Cameron Fash, Charlie Wingo, Mark Wingate, Carol Giuliani, Steve Matheson, Roger Bonds, Cade Thacker, Mark Clark, Austin Harris, Nicole Barry, Susan Quinones, Dee Griffith, Dave McCleary, Betty Clark, and Josh Sofsky. I also want to personally thank Representative Chuck Martin, Candidate for Secretary of State Doug MacGinnitie, Candidate for State Representative Alex Kaufman, and Bob Shaw for their involvement in the program.

As we approach this July 4th weekend, I have taken a few moments to privately reflect on the meaning of our nation's birthday. I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the enormous courage it took for our founding fathers and patriots to fight for the very ideals - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - that continue to make our country a beacon in a world where tyranny and despair remain prominent. We are truly blessed to live in the greatest nation in the world. At a time of domestic political unrest with the Democrats' liberal agenda overrunning our way of life and jeopardizing the future of the next generations, I would like to share this quote with you from President Ronald Reagan:

"Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should."

Thank you for your continued support and involvement with the Fulton County Republican Party.

Wishing you and your families a happy 4th of July!

Semper Fidelis,

Shawn Hanley

Chairman, Fulton County Republican Party
