    Roger's Rapid Fire Update
Monday August 29, 2011
Roger Bonds
Chairman, Fulton Co. GOP
  Dear Fellow Republicans,

This summer and especially the month of August has been a marathon of GOP activities for the Fulton County Republican Party (FCRP). We have been aggressively re-establishing our party to become the strong local political force that we expect. Make no mistake about it, this is not a social club, but a burgeoning, focused and powerful entity designed to increase the number of Republican and conservative voters in this county.

During the past 90 days our membership has shot up 22.6%. Today all of our bills are paid and at last we have funds in the bank to march confidently into 2012. Attendance at our events has been outstanding as people throughout Fulton County are engaged and enthusiastic. Since I last wrote this column our activities have included:

  • Two Debate Watching Parties with over 200 attending, cosponsored with the Buckhead Young Republicans, Atlanta Young Republicans, and Congressional Districts 4, 5, 6 and 13
  • Annual Legislative Luncheon held in Buckhead, with Brad Carver emceeing the event with presentations on redistricting by our Georgia legislators
  • Multiple Chairman’s Council events, including presidential candidate Newt Gingrich as our esteemed guest of honor, chaired by Mark Wingate
  • Two events for our Circle R Club, with the theme of Veterans Affairs followed by Redistricting, held at the home of Jimmy and Sunny Ho, chaired by Jim Squire
  • Monthly Republican Breakfasts in North Fulton and BuckSprings
  • First Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, chaired by Maggie Holliman and Betty Voyles
  • Operations and Executive Committee Meetings to discuss and vote on much needed FCRP Rules changes, presented by Mansell McCord and the Rules Committee
  • And we held our second Atlanta Evening Reception, After Hours Networking and Politics, cosponsored with the 5th District, chaired by Trey Kelly
Upcoming events include the September 7th Private Tour of the Capitol for members of the Circle R Club and Chairman's Council, followed by the next Debate Watching Party at our FCRP HQ that same evening. Our Ronald Reagan Victory Dinner is on Tuesday, November 1st, chaired by Manuela Ikenze and will be an exceptional event. We are launching our GOP Education Series with the September 29th Grassroots Training, presented by our Georgia GOP. Of course we’ll also hold our monthly breakfasts, and the Republican Jewish Coalition continues to utilize our headquarters for very interesting meetings. Additionally, the various Republican Women’s groups will start their monthly fall meetings.

Please know that the new computers are installed, programmed by Rhonda Wilson and Ron Wexler, new furniture is in place, and our new Executive Director, Steven Fellows, is in the office five days a week. And a special thank you to our intern, Michael Black for his hard work. Our FaceBook and Twitter pages are packed with new information, Matt Montgomery dutifully puts out our weekly Eupdate and events emails, and Amy Flynn is constantly adding photos to our website (look for pics of you and friends!). Vicki Willard and volunteers will also repaint the offices and large meeting room at noon, on Saturday, September 10th. Email her if you can help: VickiWillard@att.net.

While there is much more going on, that gives a quick overview. However I do apologize for leaving out so many hard-working volunteers who are making all of this possible. We sincerely appreciate all you do, which is obviously making a big difference.

Remember, “Together we are incredibly powerful.”
