AYR September Meeting - A Discussion on Policing

7 PM – 9 PM at Taco Mac Prado

Recent high profile events where police officers have been involved in the death of a suspect - including right here in Atlanta - have brought scrutiny on policing tactics and oversight. Groups like Black Lives Matter and others are calling for reforms like ending qualified immunity or even defunding entire police departments. Others say we should stand with our police and "back the blue." At our September meeting, AYR will discuss the balance between law and order and police accountability.

Joining our panel will be defense attorney Catherine Bernard who is a conflict public defender and founder of Sparticus Legal, a group which seeks to decrease the scope of law enforcement powers in Georgia. Also on the panel will be author and lecturer Jack Enter who has worked in the field of law enforcement since 1972.
Given the sensitivity of the topic, this one will NOT be recorded. You won't want to miss this one in person!
